Why does a prosecutor's background matter in family court?

Contested family cases are tried on evidence: exhibits, records, witnesses and cross-examination. A lawyer who has taken more than fifty jury trials has done that work under the strictest rules of evidence there are. It does not decide any case, and it is not a substitute for preparation — it is courtroom experience, which is one of the things a client is choosing when a case is genuinely going to be litigated.
