I’ve been injured and it’s not my fault: do I need a lawyer?

If you have been injured, you should at least consult a lawyer to determine if you have a claim. Experienced personal injury attorneys know how to properly value a claim for personal injury and can guide you through the process of getting compensated for your damages.

Won’t a lawyer just take 1⁄3 of my recovery for something the insurance company would have paid out anyway?

Not necessarily. Insurance companies want you to take the lowest amount possible for you to settle your claim. Having a lawyer represent you can and often does increase the amount of compensation you receive for your injury. By hiring an attorney, you can get a proper valuation of your claim and ensure that you receive the right amount of recovery for treatment, lost wages, and mental anguish.

Do I really need a will?

A will is not legally necessary — if you pass on and do not leave a will, your property will still be distributed to other people. However, if you want your property to be distributed according to your wishes with a minimum of fuss or court involvement, a will makes the entire probate process much easier. In addition, you can plan for your senior years by designating powers of attorney, medical powers of attorney and advance medical directives.

What kind of fees do you charge?

Every case is handled differently. Reyes Miller Law is more than willing to work out a system that’s easiest for you — whether it’s hourly billing, contingency or a flat fee rate.
